About Monica Freeman

Monica Freeman serves as the Director of Rail Transportation at CHS Inc., where she leads rail asset procurement and lifecycle management, vendor strategy, freight negotiations, and capacity and logistics planning across the company’s rail network. She is committed to advancing the intrinsic value of rail within CHS by driving process improvements and championing the deployment of new rail technologies.

With more than 20 years of transportation leadership experience, Monica previously held the role of Senior Transportation Manager at Nestlé Purina Petcare, overseeing bulk ingredient transport via both rail and truck. She has been a longstanding advocate for technology advancement, taking lead roles in the integration of third party rail transportation management systems, SAP(TM), rate management systems, and SSO capabilities. Known for cultivating high performing teams with specialized rail expertise, she brings a thoughtful and professional approach to vendor relationships.

Monica is actively engaged in industry leadership. She serves on the Midwest Association of Rail Shippers (MARS) Executive Committee, the Surface Transportation Board’s Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee (RETAC), and is chairperson of the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) Rail Committee.

She holds a Bachelor of Science from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, and a Master of Business Administration from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois.
